BIRD OF PREY

About This Project

I’ve never experienced such an easy way to spot wild birds in a developed western country like in Florida, USA. In this case i was lucky to see a great white egret hunting his dinner in the evening sunset.

I can remember his endurance in walking very slowly and standing sometimes motionless for minutes, observing his possible prey. Finally, he strikes fast and precise with his sharp bill like a spear. After that egrets mostly fly to another place, which looks impressive as well: Thanks to their wingspan up to 170 cm (67 in) they are able to glide for a long time close to the water surface.

The picture was taken on a bicycle tour – click here if you want to see all the photos from Saint Petersburg to Clearwater Beach.
